Frank Tanana is a Detroit native who helped lead the city’s baseball team to an American League East title in 1987. He pitched 13 shutouts during his eight seasons with the team. He is a graduate of Detroit Catholic Central High School and is in the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame.
Larry Murphy was a star offensive defenseman for the Detroit hockey team during their back-to-back Stanley Cup wins in 1997 and 1998. During his 21-year career with the NHL, he scored 287 goals and had 929 assists. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004.
